Analyzing layers in ArcExplorer

Bring up several layers of global-scale data and use the transparency option at the bottom of the layer properties dialogue box to view data from two layers at once. When you add a layer, choose 'www' and copy and paste the blue url of the Map Server listed below. When it comes up, choose the map service(s) that are listed in red below.

Analysis of population and the environment:

Map Server: http://www.geographynetwork.com

Map Services: Global_GIS_population, Global_GIS_NightLights, GFW_forest

Analyze the location of human populations around the world. Where are people concentrated and why? Compare these population centers with the location of other global features such as forests.

Also, bring up a current weathermap for the U.S. from www.weather.com
Under the weathermap, click on 'click to enlarge' to bring up a larger map. Shrink the window to show only the map, and set it to the side so you can view both the weathermap and the weatherdata in ArcExplorer at the same time.
